I Can I Will

The Hill… (not at the “Y”) and The Climb ~ I Can - I Will!
By Debbie Jumper

Well, I am positive I am not the only woman to turn the BIG 5-0!  I know there have been many, many others before me (you know who you are at FS!!).  I am sure I do not have the key to life and that extra special life changing wisdom to share.  I only can say that, like some of you, I have made the climb to the top of this one BIG hill.

So, now that I am mid-way through this journey of life, I must admit the view is a tad different.  It is a little scary toppling over the other side.  It is also freeing.  It is juxtaposition.  Scary, because I know – DEATH is closer!  Freeing, because – well, I have reached the point of “less judgement” of myself and I am more comfortable in my own skin, and I have more fully grown into my person.  Not completely, but mostly.  There is always work to do on one’s self.

Where is this going?  Well, to climb in the first place you have to work hard.  There are bumps and bruises along the way.  It can be stressful.  You get out of breath.  You may get injured.   You can also encounter beautiful views and incredible moments.  You must have faith to sustain you.  Then, you reach the top!  Guess what?  There are still beautiful views, and incredible moments still await.  You still have to work hard, and probably more bumps, bruises and injuries happen, and you may eventually fall deeply short of breath.  You must still rely on faith to get you through.
Our collective mission is to keep going…  I Can - I Will.  I Can - I Will be healthy to continue the journey, to continue the climb.  I Can - I Will be there for my family and all the news views and incredible moments I may encounter.  I Can - I Will strive to be like my 86 year old neighbor who is still moving around in her yard and living at her house independently.  I Can – I Will continue to lean on my faith and friends on my journey.

I Can - I Will!  You can too.  Keep climbing!  May God bless your journey.   I am blessed to spend a little piece of my days with incredible women and Trainers at Finish Strong!  So, happy birthday to each of us!
